The German Sweet Chocolate Cake

What you'll need:

4 oz. Baker's German's sweet chocolate 
1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 egg yolks, unbeaten
1 teaspoon vailla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten

What you'll do:

Preheat oven 350 degrees.

Melt chocolate in boiling water.  Cool.

Cream butter and sugar in mixer until fluffy.  Add egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well after each. Add melted chocolate and vanilla.  Mix well.

Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda. Add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating after each addition until smooth. Fold in beaten egg whites.

Pour into three 8 or 9 inch layer pans, lined on bottom with wax paper.  Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.  Cool.  Frost tops only, layering sections of cake.
